When we began our journey 6 years ago, we were driven by a simple conviction: that good research — ethical, rigorous and empathetic research — has the power to change the decisions that affect the lives of the billions of people living in developing nations who will be the engines driving our future.
Over these six years, that conviction has only deepened.
We have worked across gender, agriculture, climate, education, financial inclusion, and rural health. Our teams have worked across the length and breadth of the subcontinent, in India, Bangladesh and Nepal, working with researchers and respondents to piece together the true stories that weave the fabric of our day to day lives. Our work has shown us the urgent need for high quality, meaningful data to ground evidence-based policy.
Today, we are taking a step that helps us better reflect who we are – we are transforming our organisational identity to DIA Evidence & Impact Pvt. Ltd.
Our new name is inspired by the diya — a flame that grows ever brighter when it lights another. It carries a concept that captures what we always believed about this work: illumination is not a finite resource. The more warmth and care we bring to our data, the more meaning our data brings to us. Behind every data point is a person and a researcher – and the more we invest into our people, the further this light can grow.

The future of development lies in the future of evidence-based research. By cultivating researchers with a deep relationship with on-ground realities, and building out the network bringing together all the stakeholders in the larger developmental policy ecosystem, we believe that the most pressing concerns of our time can be met with the priority and expertise we need to bring their resolution closer.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We hope to be stepping into this next chapter with the warm, bright spirit of our new name guiding our way, and to work together in illuminating research.
